Spring into CCFM this week! | Week of March 25, 2013

Fresh & Local

This week, Crescent City Farmers Market will be at the YLC’s Wednesdays at The Square, talking about markets, our programs, and healthy eating. Wednesdays at The Square are free concerts in Lafayette Square, showcasing some of New Orleans finest musicians. In addition to the free music, there is delicious food and drinks available, all supporting the great work of the Young Leadership Council of New Orleans. Come out from 5-8, hear some music by Marcia Ball and Jenn Howard, support New Orleans with food and drink, and say hello! We can’t wait to see everyone enjoying themselves at one of our favorite Spring traditions!

Pick of the Week: Gar’Live

CCFM’s Hot Tamale Mama, Pam Warner, has had a busy Spring! In addition to being a part of both the Brooklyn Brewery Mash tours, Vendy Awards, and the French Market’s annual FoodFest, she also has developed a tasty and healthy new product-Gar’Live. Gar’Live is a spread consisting of only garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and sea salt, and is a new favorite in the office! Garlic is known for it’s immunity building properties, and it’s delicious flavor. Spread this on toast, whisk into a salad dressing, top fish, chicken or shrimp with it…it is so versatile. Stop by Pam’s table at our Tuesday or Thursday market for a taste, and let her know how you enjoy Gar’Living!

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

Another week, another great Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group restaurant under the GPS tent, Redfish Grill. This week, come treat yourself to Redfish Court Boullion, or an Po-Boy Festival “Best Seafood poboy” award winning BBQ Oyster po-boy, and finish the double chocolate truffle brownies.

Recipe of the Week

With the official start of Spring behind us, we are digging into fresh produce with abandon, like Swiss Chard, or Rainbow Chard. This colorful green is rich in vitamins and endlessly versatile; good for salads, wraps, or cooking down. Try it this week sautéed with easy homemade anchovy butter. Try adding a dollap of Gar’Live for a tangy kick!
