We are crazy for crawfish! | Week of April 22, 2013

Fresh & Local

The weather is (finally) getting a bit warmer out there, so everyone is drinking more refreshing icy drinks at market and at home. Did you know that if you bring your own cup to markets, you get a $1 discount on coffee or tea? Bring a cup, save a buck! If you forget your cup, we can sell you a reusable market cup filled with your favorite market drink for $2. Water is always free in your cups! In the spirit of keeping the market green, we also encourage you to bring reusable bags for carrying your market purchases home. We have large CCFM reusable market bags at the Welcome Tent for only $5, another great option to reduce plastic bag use at market. We are always looking for ways to reduce and reuse at markets.

Pick of the Week: Crawfish

NOLA Chefs & Backyard Boilers take notice- Joey Fonseca's catching beautiful Belle River crawfish right now. His lovely wife Jeannie will deliver 1-20 sack orders with about a day's notice. Perfect on the menu for a Jazz Fest party, neighborhood get together, or any Saturday evening at The Fly! Interested? Call Jeannie at 504-915-4439. Crawfish season is upon us, and locally caught crawfish is the best kind.

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

Thanks to Café Hope, we have been thoroughly enjoying our Tuesday lunches this month! This week chose from a margherita soup with fresh mozzarella & basil, slow roasted pork over sautéed kale & swiss chard w/ strawberries, grilled lemongrass tofu & julienned vegetable salad with chili-lime vinaigrette or strawberry shortcake with whipped cream.
