The Dirt on Dirt | Week of July 29, 2013

Fresh & Local

Come out Saturday morning for our first Saturday of the month Marketeer kids event. Get the “Dirt on Dirt” and learn how farmers use compost to grow the fruits and veggies we love. We’ll play games that help kids learn how to start their own compost piles at home. Join us Saturday and be ready to get those hands dirty!

Pick of the Week: Okra!

Ask a group of New Orleanians the best way to cook the slime out of okra and you’re bound to get all sorts of different responses. One of our favorite ways is to roast okra whole in the oven under high heat until slightly charred, then sprinkle the pods with lime juice and salt.

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

This is Red Gravy’s last Tuesday under the Green Plate Special tent. This week, look for zucchini bread with Creole cream cheese and mushrooms, sausage and peppers sliders, assorted bruschetta, and Boston cream pie. Get your fix of their delicious food anytime at their CBD restaurant!
