Tuesdays have never looked so tasty | Week of October 14, 2013 |
Fresh & LocalThis Tuesday is packed full of market awesome! In addition to the debut of citrus for the year, we welcome a new vendor, Poche Farms, from Independence, La with their lovely, locally grown produce. If that is not enough for you, stay for the cheese demo and talk by North Carolina creamery, Prodigal Farms, in town for the Curds & Cocktails event. Their fresh, ripened and aged goat cheeses are made using only the milk from their Animal Welfare Approved herd. Come hear Kathryn describe the art of affinage: bringing cheese to their ultimate ripeness, and sample cheeses at different stages of ripeness. She will also talk about caring for her herd and becoming an Animal Welfare Approved farm. Prodigal Farms cheese will on hand for purchase as well. An interesting, tasty event! |
Pick of the Week: Onions!Crisp weather brings Fall crops, and onions are a staple we love buying locally. Unlike the large, dry onions at grocery stores, these tender globes are a great addition to any meal. In addition to making everything taste better, onions have a bunch of Vitamin C, perfect for warding off colds and coughs. All those layers? Those are layers of flavor and health! |
Tuesday’s Green Plate SpecialAnother October Tuesday, another week for Woody’s Fish Tacos! Have you had his tasty side items in addition to his famous tacos? Give ‘em a try this week-you won’t be disappointed. Want to catch Woody and his crew while not at market? Follow them on facebook and see where they will be popping up! |
Recipe of the WeekThis Creole Onion Soup is a heartier version than ever found in a Parisian bistro! Creamy with milk and cheddar cheese, it’s almost a fondue—hearty enough to make a welcomed Fall meal with a crispy salad on the side. |
