We are very excited to welcome Kathryn Parker, MPH, PHD, to Crescent City Farmers as Executive Director of parent organization Market Umbrella. To welcome Kate into the Market Umbrella family, Kate will be cooking for Saturday market goers this Saturday, December 7th at 10 am. Kate will be showcasing her sous-chef skills under the tutelage of Alon Shaya, CCFM Community Advisory Team member and award winning chef of Domenica Restaurant. Kate and Alon will prepare lamb bolognese with tahini and zaatar crostini in a cooking demonstration and tasting, open and free to the public. We will also have fun kids holiday crafts for our monthly Marketeers activity. Come on out and join in the fun as we introduce Kate to our wonderful market community!

The holidays are not complete without a visit from our good friend James Beard Award winning Chef John Besh to market! This year Chef Besh will be at market Saturday December, 7 signing his latest cookbook, Cooking from the Heart: My Favorite Lessons Learned Along the Way. Cooking from the Heart, Besh's third cookbook, revisits the locations, lessons, and mentors that shaped his culinary journey with beautiful photographs, 140 recipes (complete with regional substitutions!), and personal narratives. This book is a fantastic gift for the food-lover in your life, yourself included! Chef Besh will be signing books from 9am-11am Saturday. Can't make it?
