Support the CCFM this holiday season | Week of December 23, 2013 |
Fresh & LocalHappy holidays from the Crescent City Farmers Market! This time of the year we celebrate many things, including the local farmers and fishers who produce the food we gather around at holiday get togethers with family and friends. In 2013, Poche Farm (Independence, LA) began selling their sustainably grown vegetables at the CCFM. Bartlett Farms (Folsom, LA) expanded their business, bringing pastured poultry in addition to produce to our markets. Bellegarde Bakery (New Orleans, LA) and Screaming Oaks Farm (Franklinton, LA) joined our CCFM line-up. Please consider making a year-end gift today to help us continue to grow the Crescent City Farmers Market and support the local farmers, fishers and food artisans who sell at it in 2014! |
Pick of the Week:Baby, it’s cold outside...which is perfect for growing beautiful, sweet carrots. These orange (and yellow and red and purple!) root veggies are great in stews, roasted with a chicken, sliced in a salad, or made into a healthy slaw. Carrots are nutritional powerhouses with beta-carotene, vitamin A, fiber, potassium, and so much more. Market is full of different varieties and colors! |
Tuesday’s Green Plate SpecialNo Green Plate Special this week, but we are working hard on securing great local restaurants, food trucks, and chef for 2014! |
Recipe of the WeekCooking for a group this week? Jim Core's Kale Jambalaya is just what you need. Feeds many, uses local products, and (most importantly) is delicious. Leave out the Andouille for a vegetarian treat! |
