Getting your goat has never been this awesome
| Week of January 27, 2014

Fresh & Local

Construction in New Orleans means growth and potential...and traffic. We know that getting to Saturday market has been a bit challenging lately and we are here to help. Here is a map and timeline of street closures for the CBD area. We will also have this map laminated at the Welcome Tent if you want to come by, commiserate, and plan the best way to get to market in the coming weeks. The good news is that there is always a route in, and we will always be there with open arms and hot coffee to welcome you!

pick of the week

Pick of the Week: Goat!

Goat meat is the healthiest meat around, boasting the fewest calories but the most iron and protein. Goat is also the world’s most popular meat, with 75% of the population consuming goat meat. We are lucky at CCFM to have Ryals Rocking R Dairy providing us with tasty, humanely raised goat meat and milk at our Tuesday and Saturday markets. Goat is fantastic in stews, curries, and roasted. Because of it’s low fat content, it does best cooked for long periods, making it perfect for the ol’ crock pot or slow cooker. Bill carries a selection of goat chops, ground goat, and more, so “getting your goat” is easy and tasty for CCFM!

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

Another Tuesday market means another tasty week with for lunch with Hillel’s Kitchen! This week they are back with some great classics- your choice of falafel in pita with israeli salad; roasted tomato soup with quinoa. Finish up (or start your day!) with tasty banana bread and a cup of hot chai tea. We love having these healthy, delicious lunch options!
