Fresh & LocalThis Tuesday, April 8 is New Orleans Bike to Work Day. Everyone knows bikes and farmers markets go together like shrimp and grits or coffee and chicory, so why not ride to the market on your commute in to work Tuesday? Or take a fun break and come grab Domenica’s Green Plate Special lunch via bike? To thank our two-wheeled market shoppers, we are offering a free coffee to those who ride in to market on Bike to Work Day. Check out the awesome activities planned for that day and pre-register (you are entered to win a bike!) on Bike Easy’s website. Invite your friends and make biking to market your new Tuesday tradition! |
Pick of the Week: Kid Chef Eliana! One of our favorite local chefs, Kid Chef Eliana is returning to market this Saturday for another great cooking demo! She’ll be getting to market at 9 a.m. to do some shopping, and then at 10 am she’ll be cooking with us. She’ll also be selling copies of her new cookbook Cool Kids Cook: Fresh & Fit, which features a recipe inspired by one of her market visits. Kid Chef Eliana is a great role model for all the young aspiring chefs in your life, so be sure to come on out this Saturday and bring the little ones! |
Tuesday’s Green Plate SpecialWe’re so glad that Domenica will be with us for the rest of April as our GPS vendors! They’re menu looked great last week, and it’s looking just a good this week: Crab Ravigote biscuit ($10), Cucumber, tomato and feta salad ($5), Broccoli And Ryals Cheddar frittata ($5), Smoket Trout bruschetta ($5), and Progress Farms Buttermilk Chocolate Cupcakes ($5). Be sure to come out hungry on Tuesday! |
Recipe of the WeekThere’s nothing better than a fresh juicy Strawberry, right? How about strawberries served up with a bowl of ice cream? Mmmm, this Old-fashioned Strawberry Dumplings recipe isn’t the healthiest snack you’ve had all week, but it sure is tasty! |
