Have a Pear with CCFM! | August 11, 2014

Fresh & Local

A couple weeks ago we got to chat with sous chef Jerry Harkins of Clancy’s about his personal journey as a chef, culinary passions, and his weekly excursions to our Tuesday Uptown market. You can read what sous chef Harkins had to say here and be sure to stop by Clancy’s to try their local fare for yourself!

Pick of the Week: Asian Pears!

We’re very excited to welcome back David Hoppenstedt and his Asian Pears to market this Saturday! After a couple seasons without David and his pears, we can’t wait to have him back. While these pears aren’t the most ideal for baking due to their prominent crispness, they are a sweet summer treat to eat peeled and raw. David had a tough year fighting off fire blight, so his crop will only yield one market visit as it looks now. So to all you Asian Pear fans out there, be sure to grab a bunch on Saturday, eat some while you can, and can and preserve some for later!

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

Breads On Oak came to market last week with some delicious lunch fare. The vegan Veggie Cashew Tart with eggplant pesto was delicious! They’ve been bringing out baked goods for the sweet toothed market shoppers too. If you didn’t get to try their cinnamon walnut fig cake last week, don’t miss your chance this week!
