Do the Market Mash! | October 27, 2014 |
Fresh & LocalWe are coming up on our favorite market day of the year, and certainly the cutest- Market Mash! This year, we will be celebrating on November 1, from 8am-noon. Just as in years past, we are inviting all of our young market shoppers, the Marketeers Club, to wear your favorite costume and trick-or-treat for market goodies! This year will be spooky, fresh fun with face painting, cooking demo and booksigning, treats and more. Give that costume one more day of use on November 1 and come get all treats, no tricks, at market! |
Pick of the Week: Anne Byrne! It’s the Jazz half-marathon weekend, which makes some shoppers nervous about how to get to market. Fear not; we can help! Girod St will be open by the start of market, as will S. Peters. Poydras will be closed, but there are lots of work arounds. We love this great event and do not anticipate your having trouble getting to us. Still worried? Grab your bike and enjoy this wonderful weather or hop on a bus or streetcar and let someone else do the driving. We will have a great on-site demo and booksigning with The Cake Mix Doctor, Anne Byrne, and Octavia Books so plenty of reasons to find a way to market Saturday! |
Tuesday’s Green Plate SpecialLast week we loved having Rue Chow at market, and this week we look forward to seeing the big red La Cocinita truck again. Come grab a spicy (or not), tasty, and latin-inspired lunch this Tuesday. Next week, look forward to Frencheeze Food Truck! |
Recipe of the WeekTurnips are popping up on tables all over market, harbingers of Fall weather and root vegetables to come. Turnips can be a polarizing veggie; you love ‘em or you hate ‘em. Us? We love them with cheese and cream and broiled till bubbly and browned, like this Turnip Casserole. For a turnip bonus, check out this fun video of First Lady Michelle Obama singing the praises of turnips! |
