Thanksgiving is just around the corner! | November 3, 2014

Fresh & Local

Well, it’s that time; the holiday commercials have begun on TV and some stores are already playing carols on the speakers. Holiday time is coming upon us soon and CCFM is here to make Thanksgiving, a celebration of food and fellowship, easier for everyone. Looking for a local turkey? Iverstine Family Farms is taking pre-orders for beautiful, Louisiana raised birds, with pick-ups at markets preceeding Thanksgiving and even on the farm. Order at our Wednesday market or online. Need a tasty side-item? Hot Tamale Mama or Pete and Clara’s Seafood have you covered from veggie orzo and cheese grits to miriliton dressing. Pre-orders are best, so visit your favorite vendor this week and talk Thanksgiving. Impressive, locally sourced dinner: done!

Pick of the Week: Thanksgiving Treats

Of course, we didn’t forget about drinks and dessert for your Thanksgiving table! Let Locally Preserved handle the cocktails (or mocktails) with fresh, seasonal cocktail syrups, and pre-order a special sweet potato or pumpkin pie from The Pie Lady at our Tuesday Market or a fresh chocolate coconut pie or pumpkin cheesecake NOLA Pie Guy this year. All you need to add is the friends and family for a Thanksgiving to remember!

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

Frencheeze Food Truck is at market this month with their Frenchie the bulldog emblazoned truck! From a simple and classic grilled cheese to goat cheese and bacon grilled cheese, this food truck is “cheddar” than anything you’ve had this week (see what we did there?)! Come give it a try this week…we promise not to call you cheesy.

Radishes are on tables all over market. While we love them sliced and put in salads, or on bread, did you know the leaves are edible and tasty? Try this Radish Leaf Pesto from our friends at Grow Dat Youth Farm this week for something a little different!
