The big week is here! | November 24, 2014

Fresh & Local

Thanksgiving week is upon us and the drastic weather changes are around to prove it’s holiday season in New Orleans. Are you ready? Whether you have your menu planned down to every shake of the salt shaker, or are still wondering what to cook, we have all you need. Shrimp and mirlitons for a tasty side dish, eggs and veggies for Oyster Dressing, dairy for your pies (or just pick one up at market!), greens for salads, jams and jellies for dinner rolls, French bread for the table, produce for the tasty recipes and so much more! We will be open Tuesday and Wednesday for all your last minute shopping needs. Just need to get out of the house? Come out and have a cup of coffee with your friends and family at market.

Pick of the Week: SoFab!

We are excited to have Southern Food and Beverage Museum at markets back at market Tuesday for their fun “Guess the utensil!” game. Everyone had such a great time on Saturday and we are ready to play again. Come by the table and make your guess as to what they are. Guess 3 of 4 correctly and you are entered to win a 1 year membership to the newly reopened and renovated Southern Food and Beverage Museum! SoFab is a beautiful space dedicated to the wonder and history that is southern food.

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

This is the last Tuesday for Frencheeze Food Truck at market and we are sad to see them go. Grab a great grilled cheese to sustain you through the 2 days of Thanksgiving prep on Tuesday.

Recipe of the Week

With all the supper cooking, don’t forget about breakfast! For a recipe you can make ahead that feeds many, try this great Sausage Cheese Grits Casserole. Using Papa Tom’s grits from Tuesday or Wednesday market, and eggs from Happy Hen (Tuesday market), this breakfast whips up in no time and tastes wonderful!
