Pick of the Week: Sea Bream!Fresh, local seafood is just one of countless perks of living in the New Orleans area, and now that Lent is here it’s a perfect time to start adding more fish to that diet. Sea bream, commonly known as Sheepshead, is considered one of the best white-meat fish varieties around making it a great meat substitute year-round and a very popular fish in Mediterranean cuisine as well. It’s also a great option for those Southern fish fries but if you’re trying to get away from the frying, why not try grilling? Rub the whole fish with some olive oil, sea salt, cracked pepper, and garlic, grill, squeeze some fresh lemon juice over it, and enjoy! Pick up some sea bream fillets from Pete and Clara’s Seafood at our Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday markets. |
Tuesday’s Green Plate SpecialIf you missed Breads on Oak last Tuesday, have no fear! Whether you’ve got a nagging sweet tooth or a growling belly, they’re sure to please. Their tent will be chock full of sandwiches on fresh baked bread and a variety of tasty pastries. Carnivores, vegetarians, and vegans are all welcome with opened arms. See you on Tuesday for Breads on Oak’s last market with us as our February GPS! Stay tuned for cuisine from Carrollton Market next Tuesday. |
