Farewell to Rocking R Dairy | March 23, 2015 |
Fresh & LocalAfter seven years of being a vendor at the CCFM, this Tuesday will be Bill Ryals of Rocking R Dairy's last market. Bill joined our CCFM family to sell the goat milk and chèvre produced on his family's Tylertown, MS farm. Requests from chefs and shoppers led to product line expansion - cow milk and cheeses including cheddar, Asiago, Creole cream cheese and cheese curds, as well as different cuts of goat, beef and pork. Farmers markets help fuel this sort of business incubation and growth, and farmers like Bill are what make shopping at farmers markets so special. In the future, Bill and his son Blake will focus on producing organic milk for wholesale accounts and meat production for the Link Restaurant Group and others. Come by this Tuesday to stock your fridge and freezer with Rocking R products, give Bill a big hug and raise a cup of milk to local family farmers. We wish the Ryals all the best in their future endeavors. We miss them already! |
Pick of the Week:
|
Tuesday’s Green Plate SpecialIt’s been a treat having Carrollton Market with us every Tuesday under the GPS tent. This week they’ll be dishing out some market fresh gazpacho, so be sure to come on out and grab a cup or two! |
Recipe of the WeekWe’re fortunate enough to have beautiful ripe tomatoes at all of our markets almost year round thanks to our two green house tomato vendors, Tomott’s and Cajun Growers. We like the unripened ones too though. How do you like to cook green tomatoes? Try out this Fried Green Tomatoes with Shrimp Remoulade recipe courtesy of Chef Kenneth Smith for a tasty way to put those green tomatoes and CSF shrimp to use. |
