GiveNOLA Day Celebration at CCFM! | May 4, 2015 |
Fresh & LocalCome on out and join us tomorrow at our Uptown market for a fun-filled day of fresh local food, fun and GiveNOLA Day giving! We’ll be having a great time during market hours from 9am – 1pm with vendor led tastings, raffles and lively music to face painting for the kids, and even a special appearance by one of Country Girl’s Creamery’s very own dairy cows! We’ll also be getting in the Cinco de Mayo spirit with Casa Borrega dishing out delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine all market long under our Green Plate Special tent! When you come out to market tomorrow and sign-up to give to our GiveNOLA Day campaign at the $25 level, we’ll also sign you up to become a Friend of the Market! Friends of the Market are shoppers who’ve committed to supporting our work at CCFM and Marketumbrella and who receive perks throughout the year for signing up. As a perk, all this week folks with F.O.M. membership cards will receive discounts from our wonderful community of vendors at all four markets! After market closes at 1pm, the celebration won’t stop there! We’ll be packing up and getting ready to head over to Casa Borrega to join them at their Cinco de Mayo celebration starting at 5pm! So, be sure to come on out, have some drinks, delicious authentic Mexican cuisine, and dance with us as we celebrate Cinco de Mayo and GiveNOLA Day. |

Tuesday’s Green Plate SpecialWe’re so excited to have Casa Borrega out as our GPS vendors for the Month of May! If you’ve been to Casa Borrega than you know their food is great and so is the atmosphere they create at their 1719 O.C. Haley restaurant. This Tuesday they’ll be helping us celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the right way by serving up some Mexican ceviche tostadas for lunch and horchata to wash it all down. Then after market, continue the Cinco de Mayo and GiveNOLA Day celebration with us at Casa Borrega starting at 5pm! |
Recipe of the WeekBetween some of our wonderful urban farmers from Vintage Garden Farms, Port St. Garden and Farm, and Grow Dat Youth Farm, all four of our markets are well stocked with all kinds of fresh herbs. Swing by market, pick some up, and try your own version of this Herb Salad recipe from Emeril Lagasse’s cookbook, Farm to Fork: Cooking Local, Cooking Fresh. |
