Fresh & LocalJune is officially underway and that means 30 days of eating locally begins now! This year’s Eat Local Challenge isn’t just about spreading awareness of the importance and benefits of eating locally, but it’s about getting out and having a great time too! The ELC calendar is chock-full of fun events coming up from Farm Dinners to Local Cocktail Happy Hours to Foraging Tours in City Park and even our very own Local Foods Bingo at the Zeitgeist! Whether you sign up at the ultra-lenient level and only commit to two days of eating locally per week or are going for the Ultra-Strict Tchoupitoulas level and are going all out for the whole month of June, be sure to sign-up and join us and all your fellow Locavores for some ELC fun! For more information on all the great events coming up or to find out how you can still sign up, click here. Be sure to act soon though because sign-ups end on June 8th! |

Marketeer Activity!Hey Marketeers! Join us again this Saturday for another fun-filled day of market hunting! We’ll be trying a new scavenger hunt that’ll have you searching here and there and high and low to complete this market-fresh mission. Who knows, if you complete it in time you may even win a special prize from the welcome tent… |
Tuesday’s Green Plate SpecialWe’re very excited to welcome the popular Burmese food pop-up, Lahpet, to the GPS tent for the month of June with their delicious salads, curries, and sweets! The Lahpet team seek to bring the flavors of Burma to New Orleans with traditional, exotic flavors and techniques which are true to the country’s street cuisine. Not only is their food good, but a portion of all sales benefit the One World Family International non-profit and their work with Burmese refugee communities. Need any more reasons to come out tomorrow and grab some lunch with us at market? Hope to see you at the GPS tent! |
Recipe of the WeekWe’ve still got some turnips hanging around the market, so if you haven’t gotten around to trying your hand at any new turnip recipes yet this season pick some up before they’re gone! Why not try out this Turnip Casserole recipe courtesy of Chef John Calon while we’re on the subject? |
