Creole Tomato Festivities at the Wednesday Market! | June 8, 2015

The French Market is gearing up for their Creole Tomato Fest this weekend and the energy is contagious! We’ll be joining in the fun and doing our part out at market this Wednesday with all kinds of creole tomato happenings as well. We’ll be slicing up different varieties of creole tomatoes for shoppers to try and we’ll even have a nice home-made creole tomato panzanella to dish out as well. In addition to giving out these tasty tomato treats, we’ll be giving out CCFM aprons to shoppers who come out and purchase creole tomatoes from any of the farmers! We’ve got plenty of aprons so bring a friend or two and come on out to market this Wednesday, pick up some delicious tomatoes, and try your hand at cooking them with your fancy new CCFM apron. Shopping Perks for Eat Local Challenge Participants!

All this month, participants of the Eat Local Challenge can take advantage of a special shopping perk at our Wednesday Market. Show up to market between 2-6pm and present your ELC card at the welcome table in exchange for $5 of market tokens! That’s right, eating locally just got that much easier on Wednesdays. Come on out and see us!

There are Still Tickets Available for the French Market Summer Harvest Gala!

It’s not too late to get tickets to the French Market Summer Harvest Gala this Wednesday! Come on out to market this week and enjoy our Creole Tomato festivities, then go home, get spiffy and head back out to the French Market for an evening of fine spirits, dining, and beautiful atmosphere under the arches of the nation’s oldest public market! Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

It was such a treat having Lahpet out at market last Tuesday! The pickled tea leaf salad was delicious especially when washed down with the fresh coconut water they were serving up. Can’t wait to see what they’ll be dishing out tomorrow, but if last week was any indication, you’d be wise to come out hungry and get a taste of Burma for yourself!

Recipe of the Week

A few of the market staff went to visit Timmy Perilloux’s farm last Tuesday and were treated to a delicious home cooked meal from an old Perilloux family recipe. There are still a few turnips hanging around market so pick some up this week and try out this delicious Turnip Stew Perilloux recipe!
