We’re gearing up for a great day at market this Saturday with all sorts of fun stuff going on! First off, we’re excited to have our very own Jerry Burg of Burg’s Bees at market this Saturday for a Bee Keeping demo! Jerry will have his observation hive out to show us all what the hive looks like on the inside, and will talk about all that’s involved in getting his delicious honey on the table at market. For all you aspiring urban bee keepers out there, you won’t want to miss out! Demo starts at 10 am, but Gerry will be selling honey all market long so be sure to come on out and pick a bottle or two up for yourself! To make market all the more livelier, we’ll also be graced with the fine traditional blues stylings of the Bad Oyster Band! These veterans of blues and roots music will be rockin’ the market air starting at 9am so come on out ready to shop and to tap a toe! See ya’ll out for a great market this Saturday!

Pearl River Blues Blueberry Jam!

Our friends and blueberry vendors from Pearl River, Pearl River Blues, have had a rough time getting berries ready for market with all of this rain the past few weeks. We’re still hopeful they’ll make it out to market before the season’s over with their delicious certified organic blueberries, but in the meantime, we’re traveling to them for a change. This Saturday, Pearl River Blues is having their annual Blueberry Farm Jam! All day long there will be food, drinks, music, dancing, and of course plenty of blueberries for all to enjoy. Come on out to market and make some groceries in the morning, then head on over to Pearl River and come jam with us! Should be a good ol’ time. For more info. on this fun and free event click here. Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

Lahpet continues to impress us every week with their delicious Burmese lunch offerings under the Green Plate Special tent. Last week shoppers and staff alike were raving about the delicious curried catfish they prepared as well as the pickled ginger salad. Mmmmm. Can’t wait to see what they’ll be preparing next week! Recipe of the Week

Market’s been filled up with tons of cucumbers these past few weeks. Sometimes it’s hard to see past a cucumber as just another good addition to salad, but when the weather is warm, a nice cucumber drink always hits the spot. Check out this Cucumber Lime Crush recipe from our friends at Ralph’s on the Park for a great summertime cocktail and substitute cucumber-infused vodka for cucumber water for a nice refreshing alcohol-free version!
