Evaluating Our Markets | July 13, 2015 |
Fresh & LocalAt Market Umbrella, we believe that the public markets are a force for good. We also believe that this good is quantifiable and should be studied and shared. In 2007 we developed a system of online measurement tools called MarketShare which have since been used by over 200 public markets throughout the U.S. MarketShare is a free online resource that enables public markets to assess their market’s economic, social and human impacts on their communities. By taking a snap-shot of a market’s impact, lessons are learned, success shared, and insights gained, enabling markets to keep on track toward healthy futures. We use MarketShare every summer to calculate our markets’ impact and will be doing so this week. Keep your eyes peeled for our market surveyors when you come out! Tuesday’s Green Plate SpecialWe love having Pizza Domenica out at market this month as our Green Plate Special. Despite the name, they do so much more than delicious pizzas they’re known for. Check out their menu for this Tuesday: Ricotta Bruschetta, Shrimp and Watermelon Salad, and Balckberry-Lime Aqua Fresca. |
Recipe of the WeekMarket is full of all types of beautiful eggplant right now. There are so many ways to prepare this versatile fruit, but nothing seems to beat the combination of eggplant and marinara. Check out this Sicilian Eggplant recipe courtesy of Chef Duke LoCicero and get cookin! |
