Caminada Bay Premium Off-Bottom Oysters Available at All Four Markets This Week! | July 20, 2015 |
Fresh & LocalAll this week at our Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday markets, shoppers and chefs alike will have the unique opportunity to purchase boxes of fresh shellstock oysters from Caminada Bay Premium Oysters! This family-run business will be joining us for the week, introducing the New Orleans area to their delicious off-bottom cultured oysters. These oysters are cultured in suspended cages in the high salinity waters of Caminata Bay, unlike most bottom-grown oysters we find here in Louisiana. According to owner Marcos Guerrero, this gives the oysters “...a better environment and an opportunity to grow faster and fatter year round.” Marcos and the Caminada Bay Premium Oyster team will be selling boxes of 25 whole oysters as supplies last at each market this week for $24.99 each. Due to their availability at a time when traditional oyster production is at a low in Louisiana, the price tag on these oysters is higher, but the freshness and quality will surely prove worth it. Stop by market this week and pick a box up for yourself! |
Pick of the Week: Fresh Beans! From butter beans to crowders, pink-eyed, black-eyed, limas beans and more, Indian Springs Farmers Co-op has been bringing ice chest loads of fresh beans with them to all four markets the past few weeks. Stop by and pick up a bag of them for yourself this week! |
