Help Us Prevent Diabetes in Greater New Orleans! | August 10, 2015 |
Fresh & LocalFor the past year, we’ve been proud to work with Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans to curb the effects diabetes has on so many here in the New Orleans area. Through our Farmers Market Prescription Program, we work with doctors at DSCNO clinics and the Ruth U. Fertel Community Healthy Center to prescribe fresh fruits and vegetables to families who need them most. This program gives patients who are diabetic or pre-diabetic access to fresh healthy foods and puts money in the hands of small farming families at the CCFM. We need your help to keep our Farmers Market Prescription Program going! DCSNO is one of three finalists for a $350,000 grant award from the Humana Foundation that would allow us to continue to offer this program. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, August 11th, Humana is asking the public to vote for the organization they think is most deserving of the Humana Communities Benefit grant in New Orleans. Help us prevent diabetes in New Orleans and support local farming families by voting online at HumanaHCBVote.com for DCSNO once a day starting tomorrow, through Friday, August 21st to help us continue this great program. Thanks for your continued support of CCFM, our farming families, and for helping us work to prevent diabetes in our community! |
