Fresh & Local

Our awesome partner, Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans (DCSNO), is a finalist for a grant from Humana that would allow us to offer Farmers Market Prescriptions to New Orleanians at risk of developing diabetes, but we need your help! PLEASE CONSIDER VOTING for DCSNO now through Friday, August 21 via your email, Facebook AND Twitter at HumanaHCBVote.com. That's right. You can vote three times a day! Please also spread the word by sharing this message, following @ccfmtweets and @marketumbrella on Twitter, and sharing posts, hashtag #DaughtersVsDiabetes. More than 4,000 of DCSNO’s patients currently suffer from diabetes. DCSNO hopes to combat this epidemic by starting a pre-diabetes program. The program will include educational sessions on diabetes, nutrition, physical activity, managing stress, and overcoming barriers. DCSNO will also partner with us to provide participants with vouchers for fresh fruits and vegetables at the CCFM. Together, we can improve the health of our community by preventing diabetes and supporting local farmers!

This special release is in honor of the 10th anniversary of Katrina and in celebration of the recovery our city continues to move toward. Be sure to join us this Saturday for this special event.
