The heat is back! | August 31, 2015 |
Fresh & LocalAfter a few nice days of fall-like weather it’s starting to warm up again and feel like the end of summer we know all too well. With the heat and sparse rain comes a more limited selection of produce and vendors around markets. But fear not! Fall is indeed coming. We even saw our first bunch of mustard greens at market last Tuesday, as sure a sign as any that the seasons will be changing soon. Keep on coming out and supporting our fishing families, bakers, dairy farmers, and the produce hauling family farms that are at market with their late summer produce and expect to see more and more variety and bounty as the weeks begin to cool down. |

Calling All Bread Bakers! We’re still looking for a few good bread bakers! If you or someone you know is making delicious bread and looking to become a vendor at our markets, please refer to the vendor interest form on our website and drop us a line! We’ll be taking applications for the next couple of weeks. Happy baking! And while we’re on the subject, check out this write-up our very own Graison Gill of Bellegarde Bakery got in Yahoo Food last week. |

Tuesday’s Green Plate SpecialWe’re excited to have Chef Matthew Kopfler of the popular New Orleans pop-up L’enfant Terrible join us this month as our GPS vendors for the month of September! If you frequent markets then you’ve more than likely seen Chef Matthew picking up fresh veggies for his dinner menus. When you come out to market expect simple, fresh, and well crafted plates highlighting the best of what that day’s market has to offer. Fresh is the keyword. Be sure to stop by and grab a plate with Chef Matthew this Tuesday and be sure to stop by L’enfant Terrible at Molly’s on Decatur for dinner if you like what you taste! |
Recipe of the WeekPlenty of tomatoes at market right now. Why not try your hand at a decadent Tomato Blue Cheese Napoleon recipe courtesy of Dickie Brennan himself this week? |
