Inshore shrimp season is over so get your fill at Tuesday market! |
Fresh & LocalYou’ll find plenty of local goods provided by the fresh faces from Waldo Burton Memorial School. These young gentlemen participate in Longue Vue’s Cultivating Communities, a three-part program which develops skills in gardening, entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Through this year-long curriculum, students learn to grow vegetables and herbs, sell the produce and value-added products at farmers markets, learn about cooking and careers with a professional chef, and research local non-profits and organizations. The final segment of the program culminates with the presentation of a check to the nonprofit selected by these hardworking students. This week they’ll have kale, mustards, citrus, green garlic, succulents, herbs, and more! |

Recipe of the WeekWhen the weather chills, it means grapefruit are abundant. Fight the chill and the seasonal cold with this delicious recipe, highlighting the tart sweetness of these winter treats. Adding Louisiana raw sugar keeps this totally local. Off the sugar this year? Try agave nectar or honey instead. Grapefruit are gracing the tables of our wonderful Plaquemines Parish vendors, so stock up at market to serve this handy breakfast, snack, or dessert ready whenever the fancy strikes! What’s your favorite dish to make at home from the goods you buy at our market? Share them with us on instagram (@crescentcityfarmersmkt) and have your recipe featured in our weekly newsletter! |
