Fun in the sun at your farmers market! | February 29, 2016 |
Fresh & LocalWe’re excited for a week of clear skies and refreshing temperatures. Nothing makes shopping better than soaking up some vitamin-D while spending time with your cherished community of growers and healthy-food lovers. Let this week of gorgeous weather inspire shared meals of fresh produce under the big, blue sky. Pack a kale salad for a park day, prep a sesame stir fry for lunch on the porch, or make a batch of strawberry lemonade to enjoy while strolling around the neighborhood. It all starts at the farmers market! |
Pick of the Week: Marketeers!Bring your marketeers out to the Saturday market this week for some food-inspired fun! We encourage our shoppers to bring their children to participate in our monthly marketeers activity to engage in the local food system. This week, Kid Chef Eliana will be leading a shopping tour to buy ingredients for the scrumptious food she’ll whip up for us right before of our eyes! She’ll begin shopping at 9:15am and cooking at 10am. |
Tuesday’s Green Plate SpecialLahpet is back at market! They’ve got traditional flavors of Burma, including a fermented tea leaf salad, homemade curries, and other Burmese treats. Be sure to check them out each weekday for lunch at Milkfish as well. We’re happy to have the great food and great people of Lahpet join us each Tuesday of March. |
Recipe of the Week: Simple Kale with (almost too much) GarlicOur Master of Public Health student intern Sarah Refvem provided another fantastic recipe this week. She believes food and cooking can bring people together and strengthen communities. She wants to share her passion for taking time out of our busy lives to care for ourselves through our food choices and the act of preparing meals, while supporting local farmers, businesses, and each other. See what Sarah has in store for us this week. What’s your favorite dish to make at home from the goods you buy at our market? Share them with us on instagram (@crescentcityfarmersmkt) and have your recipe featured in our weekly newsletter! |
