Fresh & Local:

Harvest the Best of Thanksgiving at the Market!

Planning an outdoor market around rain can be tricky, but the Crescent City Farmers Markets are open rain-or-shine! Tomorrow’s Uptown Market kicks off the final week before Thanksgiving, a great time to meet your farmers and plan meals with seasonal, local ingredients. To help fill your tables, we’ve invited vendors from all three markets to join us at next Tuesday’s Uptown Market on the 26th, the last chance to shop for Thanksgiving.

Exciting updates at the Tuesday market: White Sand Homestead will be bringing a delicious variety of meats and eggs, and Slicey McSlicer will be on hand the next two Tuesdays to sharpen your knives for all your holiday chopping.

Do you have FMNP dollars to spend? Benefits expire at the end of the month, and Tuesday the 26th will be your last opportunity to use them at the Crescent City Farmers Market. After you’ve used your benefits, stop by the welcome tent to receive your match tokens. While FMNP payments expire this month, FMNP match tokens are good all year long!

Picks of the Week:

Thank you from Moonlight Market 2024

A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us at Moonlight Market 2024! The rain and warm weather cleared just in time, leaving us with a perfect, cool, and breezy evening. Special thanks to the eleven chefs and restaurants who showcased their incredible culinary talents, and congratulations to Acamaya for winning the Golden Chef Hat!

We’re honored to host this community and celebrate the hard work improving the local food system in the Greater New Orleans region. With your support, Market Umbrella can continue bringing families closer to fresh produce and helping small-scale farmers and producers grow their businesses. See you next year!

The Holidays Are (Almost) Here!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner—time to plan your feast! Sweet potatoes, collard and mustard greens, citrus, meat (who said you can’t have chicken on Thanksgiving?), and seafood—we’ve got everything you need. There are four more markets before the holiday to grab your essential ingredients. Please note, markets will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday the 28th, so be sure to stock up at the Tuesday Uptown Market on the 26th!

Plus, Keep an eye out for our Annual Crescent City Farmers Market Holiday Gift Guide, featuring perfect holiday gifts from your favorite vendors!

Parking Reminder

All three weekly markets offer ample parking in designated areas. At the Thursday Mid-City Market, you can park in the Parkway Bakery & Tavern lot during market hours or on clearly marked streets. Please do not park directly along the market or between cones to maintain our space agreement. Thanks for helping us keep things running smoothly!

New Citrus Arrivals

Citrus season is off to a fantastic start! How many juicy satsumas have you enjoyed? New arrivals include sour kumquats, navel oranges, grapefruits, and more. Stop by L’Hoste Citrus to meet Mr. Lester and learn about his fresh bounty, and visit Star Nursery for extra satsumas to complete your Thanksgiving table centerpiece.

Vendor of the Week:

Perilloux Farm

Mr. Timmy Perilloux, a market favorite, is starting to return! A native of the river parishes, Mr. Timmy lives and farms in Montz, Louisiana. Every fall, he hosts hay rides and sells his family’s 100-year-old heirloom native pumpkins. His larger-than-life produce encompasses almost everything from beets to carrots to cauliflower bigger than your head. See if you can catch Mr. Timmy and his produce-laden truck at one of our Thursday or Sunday markets. Come on out and snag some gargantuan greens for a holiday feast!

Recipe of the Week:

Grapefruit & Goat Cheese Salad

This Grapefruit and Goat Cheese Salad is a light, tangy, and flavorful dish that balances citrus and creaminess in every bite. The juicy grapefruit pairs perfectly with the smooth goat cheese, while fresh greens add a crisp base. Tossed in a simple vinaigrette, this salad is a refreshing option for any occasion.
