Coffee is Here! | January 10, 2022

Fresh & Local:

Coffee is Here!

Long time market shoppers might remember the pre-COVID days when market staff offered hot and iced coffee for sale at the welcome tent and miss those morning perks. We are very excited to announce that we’re upping our coffee game and welcoming new local artisan coffee vendors into each of our three weekly markets with micro roasted bags of ethically sourced beans for your own home coffee prep, as well as coffee drinks for your urgent go juice needs. Joining our Sunday market this week is Coffee Science - don’t miss out on the Venetian Creme! On the horizon for Thursday is Exile Coffee, helmed by proprietor Byron Gomez, a long time coffee roaster and Acadiana native. We look forward to welcoming back former Tuesday Green Plate Special vendor Kirby Jones of La Vie En Rose Cafe to the Tuesday market with a variety of signature coffee beverages. And River Boat Coffee with their nitro cold brew will be coming on board at both Tuesday and Sunday markets. We’ll keep you posted as they come on board, and you can always find out who will be at market here.

Picks of the Week:

COVID-19 Safety at
Crescent City Farmers Markets

With the recent increases in COVID-19 cases as a result of the Omicron variant, we are glad to be able to offer three safer alternatives to traditional grocery shopping.

All of our markets are outdoors, providing fresh air and more space between shoppers. Market staff are required to wear N95/KN95 masks at all times.

At our Sunday market in City Park you can also pre-order online and select the curbside option. Order online through WhatsGood from Wednesday through Friday and select a time for your contactless pickup on Sunday.

Finally, you can have a box of locally grown produce delivered straight to your door each week. The box features 8-10 seasonal items, usually a mix of fruits and vegetables, enough to feed a family of four for a week. You can order Crescent City Farmers Market home delivery boxes online through our partners Top Box Foods.

Remember: for online purchases, Market Match cuts the price of fruits, vegetables and food bearing plants in half for customers paying with SNAP.

Exciting Things to Come

Beginning on Tuesday January 11th, the Market Umbrella programs team will be hosting a series of activities at market including tours, cooking demonstrations, and more. This will be recurring weekly at our various market locations. The monthly schedule will be posted on our social media. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date with all our weekly market events.

Look forward to learning more about seasonality, food budgeting, new recipes and nutrition. See you at the market - Let’s Eat. Grow. Learn together!

Coffee Science will be at the Sunday City Park market every week selling whole beans, hot coffee and cold brew, and an array of their specialty coffee drinks, like the espresso nebula which is a whipped espresso drink with cane sugar and ice. They’ve also got a serious pastry program which includes seasonal breakfast grab-and-go items like burritos and savory pastries as well as a chocolate espresso king cake featured in the new Big Book of King Cake.
