Figs n’ Fourth at Market! | July 3, 2023 |
Fresh & Local:Figs n’ Fourth at Market!Join the Crescent City Farmers Market for a Fourth of July celebration at the Tuesday Uptown Market! Bring your friends and family to see the festivities and support local food producers! Fresh sweet potatoes, summer peas, okra, melon, and corn from local vendors are in season. We’ll offer free watermelon samples while supplies last. Try a bite, so you know the walk home carrying your big, tasty watermelon will be well worth it. And be sure to get to market earlier for a sample of Black Creek Farm’s sausage that they’ll be grilling up on-site! Casa Borrega owner Hugo Montero, from our Green Plate Special Series a few years back, will join us once again to whip up a dish for market. In addition to all the festive eats, we will have music by The Tangiers Combo from 9:30 – 11:30 am. The festivities will take place at our Uptown Market on Tuesday, July 4 from 8 am to 12 pm. With Market Match, double your SNAP dollars at market and take home even more fresh, in-season fruits and veggies. Visit the Uptown Fourth of July at Crescent City Farmers Market facebook page to stay up to date with the details. To keep track of this event and all our summer celebrations, visit our market events calendar. |

Vendor of the Week:Figue EnvieFigue Envie is making their annual market appearance! Owners and fig farmers, Mandy and Byron met while serving in Mali as agricultural volunteers in the Peace Corp. Now the husband and wife are teachers in New Orleans, but they spend their summer vacations connecting with their farming roots. After tending to fig trees on family land since 2006, they purchased a new plot which has allowed them to quadruple their production. Figue Envie produces fresh figs, traditional fig preserves, as well as specialty flavors like Balsamic Fig Jam, Fig Pepper Jelly, and Autumn Spiced Fig Preserves. Figue Envie will only be at the market July 4th, 6th, 9th, and 11th, so be sure to stop by! |
